Olubunmi Ojo

Director, Surveillance and Epidemiology Department

Olubunmi Eyitayo Ojo, a graduate of University of Lagos with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biology and Masters degree in Microbiology from the same university. She became Director of Disease Surveillance/IHR at the Federal Ministry of Health in 2013 and was moved in that position to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC). She joined the Federal Ministry of Health as a Scientific Officer at the Federal Vaccine Production Laboratory, Yaba, Lagos in 1984.

She joined the Epidemiology division of the department of Public Health, Federal Ministry of health in 2005 and her focus had been on IDSR and IHR. She is a graduate of World Health Organization 1st Cohort of Implementation of IHR course (2010) and she has since been the IHR National Focal point responsible person till date.

Following her assumption of office as director in January 2013, she has coordinated the surveillance activities of both routine and disease outbreaks in the country and has represented Nigeria at several regional and global meetings on Global Health Security and IHR.

Her career in various capacity in Public Health spanned over three decades.
